Hannah Jenkins

Hannah has a lifelong passion for improving captive animal care and welfare standards. She first attended a Student Environmental Enrichment Course at Newquay Zoo in 2016. Since then, Hannah has assisted on another SEEC and a corporate team building event at Lakeview Monkey Sanctuary, and will soon be helping at a ZSL Careers Conference and further team builds.

Hannah graduated from Exeter University with a degree in Animal Behaviour, for which she was also awarded a Dean’s Commendation. Before joining the team she has held numerous volunteer positions at riding schools, The Flicka Foundation Donkey Sanctuary and Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm. Since graduating Hannah has been jointly responsible for running a Pet Department, providing the opportunity to work with a variety of domestic and exotic species.

She now hopes to start a career that’s focused on improving the lives of captive animals through enrichment, conservation, rehabilitation and education. Hannah’s most exciting experience to date was a recent visit to Costa Rica, where she hopes to return to permanently in order to work with the country’s unique wildlife.
